The shooter in the Waffle House incident which left 4 dead and numerous others wounded has been taken into custody after leading some 100 police officers on a massive manhunt, as related by a story appearing first in the Chicago Tribune. Nashville police officers have been combing the area where the shooting occurred since early Sunday morning, going door to door in Antioch, a quaint neighborhood which is part of the Metropolitan Nashville community.
The shooting, which occurred early April 21, 2018, resulted in a lengthy manhunt before the suspect’s being taken into custody. The shooter, Travis Reinking, in a story which appeared in the Washington Post is someone whom, according to people familiar with Reinking, had previously shown signs of significant instability. In a series of bizarre incidents, occurring in several states but principally in Illinois, Washington, and Tennessee, Reinking went to a local pool in a pink dress and swam in his underwear challenging lifeguards to fight him. In another strange incident, Reinking traveled to the nation’s capital and tried to cross a security barrier declaring himself a sovereign citizen demanding to speak with President Trump. In a third incident, this one occurring in Tennessee, last year, Reinking was arrested for another incident occurring at the Waffle House. Just four days prior to the shooting yesterday morning, Reinking presented at a BMW dealership in Brentwood, Tennessee and stole a BMW. The key fob to the stolen vehicle was found in Reinking’s possession upon his being taken into custody and the information regarding the whereabouts of the vehicle was related to the Brentwood police according to sources interviewed in preparation for writing this article.
Curiously, all of the incidents notwithstanding, Reinking remained in possession of several weapons and had a valid Illinois gun license until it was revoked for the incident at the Waffle House occurring last year. In spite of the revocation, the weapons ended up back in the suspect’s hands, one of which, an AR-15 rifle, was used in Sunday’s shooting rampage. It is also widely reported Reinking has indicated a strange belief he has been stalked by mega-pop star Taylor Swift, herself from Nashville, Tennessee. The singer disputes, according to reports we have seen, stalking the man now charged with four homicides.
The authorities announced his arrest this afternoon on Twitter, but did not immediately give details. This is a developing story and we will continue to update this story as details become available. The thoughts and prayers of your locally owned, hometown, G1NBC (Christian County) go out to the families of the survivors with additional prayers and well-wishes for the families, friends, and associates of the victims less fortunate.
