YELLOWSTONE COUNTRY FESTIVAL – JULY 22, 2023 @ MT. BRIGHTON

MUSIC LINE UP

2:30 p.m.

Bernadette Kathryn & The Lonely Days Band

From the city that keeps America driving, Bernadette Kathryn is a fresh and exciting addition to Detroit’s storied history of musical talent. While she is immersed in the world of contemporary young country, she draws on the Motor City’s long tradition of great music, from Motown to rock and roll. In a cookie-cutter world of sound-alike singers, Kathryn is truly Detroit’s Country Rebel.

Kathryn is proud to be a Nashville recording artist, and she can be heard on the MC1 Nashville label, marketed and distributed internationally by The Orchard.

She started playing Nashville honkytonks during CMA Fest when she was 13 years old, but it was her appearance on the Grand Ole Opry Stage when she was only 17 that first drew the attention of industry influencers. At an age when most singers are still fawning over their musical heroes, she nailed her debut at The Opry, and recording contracts and high-profile shows followed. Now, of course, being a veteran to the industry Kathryn continues to dazzle audiences from Nashville to the Midwest with her one-of-a-kind act that promoters and venue owners who value a crowd-friendly, engaging approach to modern country know that she is the sort of easily marketed talent that keeps audiences clamoring for more.

Bernadette Kathryn’s The Lonely Days Band includes Erik Blundell, Brendan Derey, Jim Thiede, Daisy J, and Andrew Toering.

Double Wide Ride

Where modern outlaw and 90s line-dance meet, Double Wide Ride brings their blue-collar brand of country music to the next generation. Formed in Southern Mid-Michigan over 15 years ago, this is a well-crafted production that doesn’t forsake the gritty undercurrent running through the well of a traditional country band. The classic songs of Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and Brooks & Dunn are performed along with contemporary artists like Chris Stapleton, Cody Jinks and Tyler Childers.

When the pandemic shut down most live music venues and most bands stopped performing, the fans of Double Wide Ride took it upon themselves to still have their favorite band play. Whether it be in a home, backyard, or barn, Double Wide Ride provided a party on the regular until the world opened back up.

Double Wide Ride consist of Dave Moore (guitar), Timothy Taylor (pedal steel/guitar), Gary Ford (bass) and Roger “Hadji” VanSteeland (drums). Voted Lansing’s best of the best: 2022 Top of the Town Country Band/Artist, you can catch the band performing steadily throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois.

Mandi Layne & The Lost Highway

Mandi Layne & The Lost Highway — the beat goes on and on and on with this band. A group of energetic musicians currently calling Michigan their home, however, happily obtaining a second residency in their 15-passenger van. You will likely see them pulling a trailer of gear to their next show somewhere near you.

This band is no stranger to performing in a tiny hole-in-the-wall bar in the sticks nor are they a stranger to performing at a concert for 100,000 fans. They have opened for country acts such as Blake Shelton, Sara Evans, Daryl Worley, Colt Ford, Justin Moore, Tracy Lawrence, Craig Morgan, Jennifer Hansen, Billy Currington, Sarah Buxton, Joe Nichols, Scotty McCreery, and many more. Their drive brings them to all sorts of venues across the region — and there is no stopping them!

The band was formed in 2007 when they entered into 98.1 FM’s Rising Star competition. The band won the contest two years in a row and moved forward to pursue a serious career in music. This band has had the opportunity to record at Sun Studio in Memphis, TN in 2009 and again in 2013. They released their debut album, Drunk In Love, in 2009 and have had great reviews.

In 2013, the band began recording their sophomore album, Country 2 The Bone, which was recorded at Dark Horse Recording in Franklin, Tenn., and released on June 28, 2014. Both of their albums are full of material that they wrote and co-wrote with Greg Stryker. Bo White (Sports Illustrated) said: “Mandi Layne & the boys are a fresh face with a country rock style that has you starting out tapping your toes and before long have you dancing, drinking shots and hollerin’ like a young & almost skeletal Johnny Cash doing white crosses and black bennies and staying up days on end to take it all in.”

Mandi Layne’s Lost Highway includes Greg Kevorkian, Dave Banks, Brian Coonan, and Mark Sutton.

Shiatown

Shiatown plays today’s current hard-hitting modern country music hits along with other classic country tunes — anywhere from Aldean to Cash. With three lead singers, they’re able to cover various artists with many different vocal tones and ranges. The band is made up of five musicians from the Shiawassee and Genessee counties area, making Shiatown a relevant name in representing where they are all from.

Shiatown has premiered at various Michigan festivals, fairs and venues — Big Country Fest in Frankenmuth, Bay City Fireworks Festival, and The Machine Shop in Flint, just to name a few. They stay busy in the winter months providing entertainment at many live music establishments throughout Michigan.

Shiatown is Jeff Vandemark, Bret Wiskur, Troy Napier, Casey Smith, and Glenn Nation.

8:30 p.m.

Mac Watts

Michigan native and Nashville recording artist Mac Watts is a rising star in modern country music. Growing up just north of Detroit, Watts always had a love for music. Influenced by the sounds of Johnny Cash, Motown, Bruce Springsteen, Eric Church, Kip Moore, and many others, Watts has written and released a portfolio of many songs, including his first EP, “Dynamite”. Singles include his debut, “Ain’t Through Loving You”, “Drunk on a Tuesday”, along with many others including his most recent 2023 releases of “Castaway”, “I Should MaryJane” and “Drink Her Memories Gone”.

Watts was the Regional Finals Winner for the Nash Next America’s Talent Search Contest in 2018 and selected to perform at the WYCD 30th Anniversary Hoedown at Pine Knob Music Theater with a surprise guest, Garth Brooks.
