HOWELL, 1/18/2024 – The Howell Area Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce its upcoming Citizen of the Year and Annual Dinner event, a momentous event marking the 75th anniversary of the chamber’s establishment, that will take place on January 25th at Chemung Hills Golf and Banquet. The evening promises to be filled with inspiration, recognition, and celebration of our community’s outstanding achievements.
The theme for this year’s event, “Shining Together, Building Forever,” reflects the strength and unity that have defined our community over the past seven and a half decades. The event will kick off with a captivating keynote speaker, setting the stage for an evening dedicated to honoring excellence and community involvement. A formal induction of officers and directors will follow, highlighting the chamber’s commitment to effective leadership and vision
.
The culminating event of the evening will be the unveiling of the Citizen of the Year, a cherished tradition where last year’s recipient, George Moses, will present the prestigious award to this year’s recipient. This momentous occasion pays tribute to an outstanding individual who has made significant contributions to both the business community and the community at large.
This year, in remembrance of the late Rick Scofield, the chamber will present the Rick Scofield Business of the Year Award. This award celebrates a local business that mirrors Rick’s characteristics, emphasizing exceptional growth, innovation, and community involvement over the past year. The nominees for this award include Mike Jonna of Jonna’s Market and Jonna’s Bar & Grill, David Plait of Hungry Howie’s, and Susan Pominville of Abovo Visual Communications and S Pominville Art.
To add an exciting element to the evening, the winners will be chosen that evening via live voting, allowing attendees to actively participate in the recognition of outstanding contributions to our community.
Other awards that will be recognized include the Community Engagement and Philanthropy Award. This year’s nominees are Agape City Church, Brad Tate; Chem-Trend, John Lundin; and Hatch Stamping, Suzanne Morrison.
The Employee Engagement Innovator Award will acknowledge a member business that has implemented creative and effective strategies to enhance employee retention. The nominees for this award are Armor Protective Packaging, David Yancho; Lake Trust Credit Union, Brandalynn Winchester-Middlebrook; and Torch 180, Rhonda Callahan.
The event will take place at Chemung Hills Golf and Banquet on January 25th. Doors open at 5 pm, and advance registration is required. Tickets can be purchased at http://howell.org/.
